Ep 415 – Divine Disruption: Why Your Business Might Be Forcing You to Pivot (And It’s Not Your Fault)
Please Note: This is part 2 of the Pruning Season Series.
This episode is powered by the Ascension Archetype Quiz
If you've recently felt something shift in your business and you started spiraling thinking you must have done something wrong, stop. What if the thing you lost wasn’t proof that you missed it… but proof that you were being moved? Because most CEOs don’t break after a loss, they break after the story they tell themselves about the loss. And if you’ve been replaying every decision, questioning your discernment, and wondering if you misheard God, this episode is going to interrupt that spiral in real time. Not every disruption is an attack. Some disruptions are divine redirection. And if you don’t understand the difference, you will waste months trying to fix something that was never broken.
If you are a six- or seven-figure CEO navigating business loss, sudden disruption, leadership pressure, or unexpected shifts in your business model, this episode will give you language for what is actually happening. In part two of the Pruning Season series, Dr. Darnyelle breaks down what it means when something is taken without warning, why high-performing entrepreneurs spiral into “Did I miss God?” loops, and how to discern the difference between spiritual attack, business failure, and divine redirection. We explore CEO mindset, nervous system responses to loss, identity disruption, and the role pruning plays in scaling a sustainable and aligned seven-figure business.
Here’s the truth: the majority of disruptions in your business are not punishment, failure, or attack. They are redirection. And if you don’t understand that, you will spend weeks or months trying to rebuild something that was never meant to go with you into your next level.
You’ll walk away with a clear framework for understanding sudden loss, a practical protocol for navigating disruption without panic, and the clarity to distinguish between what needs to be rebuilt and what needs to be released. You’ll also gain insight into how your identity is being refined in this season so you can lead from alignment instead of fear.
Grab your Move to Millions Podcast Notebook, your favorite beverage and a pen and settle in to discover:
✔ how to recognize when a disruption is redirection instead of failure
✔ how to stop the “Did I miss God?” spiral before it costs you time and momentum
✔ how to respond to sudden loss without making fear-based decisions
✔ and so much more…
This episode is a call to interrupt the lie that every loss is your fault. It challenges the belief that your obedience is what controls your outcomes and invites you into a deeper level of trust, leadership, and spiritual maturity as a CEO.
This is your invitation to stop spiraling and start discerning. To pause long enough to separate what actually happened from the story you told yourself about it. To lean into what is being revealed instead of trying to reverse what has already been removed.

Darnyelle: [00:00:00] What was I going to delay if this would've worked? This one almost never fails because sudden disruption. Usually does two things at the same exact time. It takes something that you want it and it creates space for something that you have been avoiding.

Listen, that's how we grow this message and get it into the ears of more seven figure CEOs and seven figure CEOs in the making [00:02:00] your words matter. Your support matters. So please take a moment to go ahead, rate review, and then come right back because this episode is about to shift everything. That thing you just lost.
It wasn't taken from you, it was removed for you. And the reason you cannot see that yet is because you are still grieving the version of yourself that needed it. So if you have been replaying every decision that you have made in the last six months trying to figure out where you went wrong, stop. You did not miss God.
You are in a pruning season and this one you did not get to choose. If you felt that in your spirit, then I want you to lean in because this episode is for you. There are two kinds of pruning. There is the pruning that you see coming. You know, the slow misalignment, the quiet nudge, the season where you know something has to end and eventually you get the courage to end it.[00:03:00]
That was the last episode. That is the pruning that you get to participate in. And then there's the other kind, the kind where you wake up and something is gone. The contract you thought was certain. A client, you were counting on the partnership. You built your next quarter around the opportunity. You had already told your team was in the bag.
The relationship you thought was solid, the door you were sure was going to open. And when that cut comes without warning, the first place your mind runs is not to God. It is to yourself. What did I miss? What did I do wrong? What should I have seen? What could I have done differently? Is this punishment? Am I off track?
Did I mishear God? Now listen, I wanna save you weeks in that spiral because most of the time when the cut comes without warning, it is not punishment for what you missed. It is protection from what you could not see. It's important for you to [00:04:00] understand that not every disruption is an attack. Some disruptions are the answer to a prayer that you forgot, that you prayed in the event that we have not met.
I'm Dr. Darnyelle, the founder and CEO of incredible one Enterprises, a business transformation company. I'm also the creator of several life and business changing frameworks, including the Move to Millions Method. You are watching or listening to the Move to Millions podcast. It's season seven. And this is the second episode in our brand new series called Pruning Season.
Now, if you did not listen to episode number one yet, I need you to go back and get in episode number one because this series is built in a sequence. Episode one, set up the framework, the five stages of pruning and the four resistance patterns, one of which is likely yours. This one picks up where that episode left off, and you will get more out of the entire series if you go in order.
I decided to [00:05:00] do the pruning season series because I am on a gap year from my business. And if that's not the true definition of pruning, then I'm not sure what is. This series is for you, if you have been praying for your next level, but you have not been willing to put down the thing that is likely blocking it. This series is for you,
if your business is still working, but something inside of you has already shifted and you have been ignoring the Whisper. This series is for you if you are exhausted, not because you're doing too much, but because you are doing too much of what you should have already stopped doing. This series is for you,
if your circle has started to feel smaller, quieter, or less aligned, and you are not sure whether that means something is wrong or something is growing. And this series is for you, if you know that the next version of your leadership requires a version of you that does not yet exist, and that scares you more than a little.
Now, [00:06:00] let me be honest with you about something. My pruning season was something that I got to choose. I talked about that in the last episode. I saw the misalignment. I felt the shift. My body was keeping score of all of the tension and the stress, and eventually I made the decision to put my entire business model down.
That was my path, but I've sat across from enough CEOs to know that for many of you, the pruning did not arrive as a choice. It arrived as a shock. For instance, I have a client who had been running her own business very successfully for several years, and she had built a relationship with a major corporate client that represented nearly 40% of her annual revenue.
The contract was stable. It renewed every year. It was the anchor. She built her projections around, hired around, and planned around, and then out of the blue, one quarter without a warning, the client restructured internally [00:07:00] and did not renew. No performance issue, no complaint, no failure on her part. The client simply changed their direction, and in the weeks that followed, I literally watched one of the sharpest, most spiritually grounded CEOs that I have ever met,
completely lose her footing. She stopped trusting her own judgment. She revisited every decision that she made in the previous six months. She started asking herself whether she had missed something. Whether God was correcting her, whether she had become too comfortable, too complacent, or too confident.
She was not spiraling because she lost revenue. She was spiraling because the loss disrupted the story she had been telling herself about why she felt safe. Listen, that contract was not just income, it was her identity. It was proof that she was doing something right and when it disappeared, almost overnight, everything that she had built her sense of security [00:08:00] on went along with it.
Hey, I hate to interrupt the goodness that's happening right now in this episode, but I need you to do me a quick favor. If this episode is blessing your life and business right now, will you take a few moments and rate and review the show your words, help more millions minded entrepreneurs find us and step into their next level?
All right, thank you so much. Let's get back into the conversation 'cause we're just getting started. Now, I'm gonna tell you the same thing that I told her. The thing that was taken was not the foundation. It may have felt like it was the foundation, but what it actually was was a ceiling, because as long as that contract existed, she was never going to build the business that she was actually called to build.
She was going to keep optimizing around one client instead of scaling the way her vision actually required that she scaled. Now, the sudden loss did not break her business. What it did is it broke [00:09:00] open her business. Here's the part of the story that I'm so excited to share with you. Within six months, she had replaced that revenue with three new clients who were more aligned with her actual assignment.
And her business model was stronger than ever, and her leadership much more clear, and the version of her that emerged on the other side could not have been built while that contract was still on her client list. The disruption was not the attack, the disruption was the rescue, and I've seen that pattern more times than I can count over the last 18 years, working directly with entrepreneurs and small business owners.
And this is why I am so excited to dedicate an entire episode to it because if you are the CEO who just has something taken, you need someone to tell you what is actually happening before you spend three to six months believing a lie about yourself or about your business. Now, here is what I want you to understand [00:10:00] about that spiral.
The Did I miss God loop? Is one of the most spiritually dangerous places that A CEO can live, because on the surface it looks like humility. It looks like you're checking yourself. It looks like a leader taking ownership, but underneath. It is something entirely different. It is control in religious language because the promise of the spiral is that if you had been good enough, wise enough, sharp enough, obedient enough, then nothing would've gone wrong, which means that you are in charge, which means God is a vending machine, which means your obedience is the mechanism that determines your outcomes, and that my friend is not faith.
That is self-righteousness dressed up in Jesus language. Now, let me say that differently. When you spend days asking, did I miss God? You are assuming that everything that happens in your business is a direct result of whether you got it right. That is very heavy theology to live in, [00:11:00] and it is also not how pruning works.
Pruning happens regardless of your performance. Pruning happens because you are bearing fruit. Pruning happens because you are alive and pruning happens because God is doing something in you that your current structure cannot hold. Sometimes you will miss something. Yeah, that's true. But if you are someone who prays, who listens, who is in an active relationship with God, who is doing the work, who is being more than you are doing, the chances that a disruption in your business is because you failed are actually slim to none.
The chances that a disruption in your business is because something is being reordered are much higher. You did not miss God. God moved You. Take a deep breath in for me. I can just feel it as I record this episode for you. Now, I wanna give you a framework for telling the difference because there is a real [00:12:00] question that you have to consider here.
Sometimes disruption actually is attack. Sometimes there is genuine spiritual warfare going on. Sometimes there are real consequences of real mistakes that have been made. But in my experience and in the experience of every CEO that I have worked with over the years, the ratio is not what we assume. We assume almost every disruption is attack.
We assume almost every loss is failure. We assume almost every closed door is punishment. The actual ratio is closer to the opposite. The vast majority of sudden disruption in the life of a CEO is not attack. It is redirection. Here is how you can tell the difference. Attack looks like chaos. Redirection, on the other hand, looks like closure.
Attack drains, energy. Redirection requires courage, but returns peace. Attack creates confusion about your identity, whereas redirection, it clarifies it. Attack makes you smaller. [00:13:00] Redirection makes you stop and reorient, attack comes with accusation, whereas redirection comes with invitation. If you look at what just happened in your business.
And after the initial shock wears off, you can feel something settling underneath something that looks like clarity or peace or even relief that you did not expect that is redirection. And if what you feel is escalating fog, mounting confusion, and an increasing sense that nothing is working, that is a different conversation and we are not having that conversation today.
But the loss that you thought was devastating, the one that closed the door, you were certain about. The one that you have been grieving for three weeks, that is most likely redirection. And if you sit with it long enough, you'll feel the clarity under the confusion. Now, according to the Startup Genome Project, which studied 3,200 high growth companies and found that businesses that pivoted once or twice [00:14:00] raised two and a half times more money than those who didn't.
And experienced three and a half times better growth than companies that either never pivoted or pivoted too many times. Here's what I want you to understand, the disruption, the pivot, it was an accelerant, and I believe that pruning season does that for you too. Again, let's look at John 15 and two. He only prunes what is growing and what is working, and so if you are experiencing a pruning, it's because God has more and
the only way to give it to you is to release what is no longer working. So instead of, what did I do wrong, here are three questions that I want you to start asking yourself. Question number one, what was I about to build on this that I cannot see yet? Sometimes God closes the door, not because the door was wrong, but because the thing you are about to build with it would've locked you into a season that you were supposed to be leaving.
The contract that did not come through would've required you to hire three people that you did not actually [00:15:00] want to manage or need, or that would mess up your profitability. The partnership that ended would have required you to stay in a lane. You are already outgrowing. The client that left would've kept you so busy serving them that you would've missed the signal to pivot.
You do not always see what you are being protected from when it is happening, but the question itself should open your eyes. Question number two, what was I going to delay if this would've worked? This one almost never fails because sudden disruption usually does two things at the same exact time. It takes something that you wanted and it creates space for something that you have been avoiding.
The launch that flopped was going to fund another year of the same offer that you are already tired of. The partnership that you lost was going to keep you in an industry you were about to outgrow. The opportunity that fell through was going to give you enough visibility to delay writing your actual message for [00:16:00] another season.
Hear me when I tell you. Disruption creates the space for what you were postponing. Ask yourself, honestly, what was I going to put off if this had gone through? That is almost always the thing that God is trying to get to. And question number three, who am I being asked to become in the absence of this?
This is the most important question because identity gets built in the absence, not in the presence. You do not find out who you are when everything is going well. You find out who you are when the floor shifts, when the thing that you are counting on is gone, when you have to show up to the day without the identity prop you have been using to define yourself.
The sudden cut is an identity forge, and the version of you that walks out of this season will not be the version of you who walked into it. The question is whether you will cooperate with who you are becoming. Three simple questions. [00:17:00] What was I about to build on this? What was I going to delay if this had worked, and who am I being asked to become in the absence?
Write them down, put them on your desk. Ask them the next time something starts to fall apart. And I promise you, you will save yourself months. Not every CEO handles sudden pruning differently. And because this season is going to activate your specific wiring, I want you to know what yours looks like under pressure.
Now, if you haven't guessed it, you know I'm talking about the ascension archetype quiz. I love this quiz. It's why I talk about it every single episode. I created the quiz to help you to answer one question. What is really keeping you from seven figures, and when you take the quiz, you'll learn how you are divinely wired and how that impacts the way you lead, the way you scale, the way you relate to money and success, as well as how you have been sabotaging your next level.
Do you see why I want you to take this quiz? [00:18:00] If you've been doing all the right things, but still feel like you're carrying more weight than you should, it's not your strategy, it's your pattern. There's a hidden way that you lead that's shaping your money, your success, and your peace, and until you see it, you'll keep working harder than you have to.
The Ascension archetypes quiz shows you in just three minutes what's been driving your business behind the scenes and what needs to shift so that you can finally experience the overflow you are desiring. It's fast, it's free, and it will give you the language for why things feel harder than they should right now.

When you take the three minutes to take the quiz, you will learn which of the five archetypes is yours, performer, producer, path maker, powerhouse, or prophet. And you'll open the door to a world of insights that will shift the way you lead your life and your business.
You can take the quiz right now at move to millions quiz.com. Did I mention it only takes three minutes? Okay. Now, I just wanted to share that with you because I wanna talk about how sudden pring is going to affect each and every archetype. If you are a performer, sudden loss will make you wanna immediately book something new.
The empty space on your calendar feels unbearable. The quiet of an unexpected open Wednesday feels like failure. So you start to scramble to [00:20:00] try to fill it, another speaking gig, another launch, another project, anything to restore that sense of momentum. Because without momentum, you do not know who you are.
You task in this season is to let the calendar stay open long enough to let God fill it with what he actually wants you to do next, not what you can generate in a panic. If you are a producer, sudden loss is gonna make you want to rebuild the system that failed. You will stay up to three o'clock in the morning trying to reverse engineer what went wrong, building new protocols, and creating new contingency plans while designing the structure that would have prevented from happening in the first place.
And the crazy thing is that you will tell yourself that this is discipline, but let me just be clear, it is not. It is a trauma response. Your task in this season is to resist the urge to fortify against your next loss. Some losses are not system failures. Some losses are seasons ending and some [00:21:00] losses are an opportunity to learn and move on.
If you are a path maker, sudden loss sends you in five new directions all at once. You'll pivot three times in a week. You'll announce a new offer before you process the old one. You'll start four new things because one thing fell through. Your task is to sit in one direction long enough to know which one is God and which one is panic.
The answer is rarely the most exciting option. The answer is usually the one that actually scares you a little. And if you are a powerhouse, sudden loss makes you go to war. Someone is responsible. Something needs to be fixed, A decision needs to be made, and you will move immediately into command. You will call meetings, you will write the hard emails.
You will take control of whatever is left to control. Your task. And this season is to let something happen that you did not orchestrate. Your next level cannot be fully commanded into existence. At some point. [00:22:00] You're gonna have to let it arrive through sweet surrender. And last, but certainly not least, if you are a prophet, sudden loss will make you retreat.
You'll want to stop talking. You'll wanna stop moving. You'll want to sit with what just happened for three weeks before you engage with anyone about it. Your instinct will be to go into a cave until you see clearly again. Your task in this season is to stay present with your people while you process.
Your silence will be interpreted by the wrong people in the wrong ways. Be present while you process. Now, here's what I hope you caught. Every archetype has a panic response to sudden loss. Learning yours is how to stop reacting to it. Now, if you have not taken the ascension archetype quiz yet. Go do it right now at move to millions quiz.com.
Three minutes. It's free. Know how you Are Wired before the next Cut comes, because if you don't know, you'll be reactive. [00:23:00] And reactive in a pruning season will cost you more than the cut itself did. I'm gonna invite you to just take a deep breath in. Listen, pruning season is a thing. It's why I am doing an entire series about it because I want you to understand what is going on.
It's actually for your good. I wanna give you a practical protocol for the next time that something gets taken away from you. Step number one, do not make any decisions for 72 hours. Not one, not a pivot, not a new launch, not a team change, not a rebrand, not a new offer, not a revenue replacement strategy.
Nothing. For 72 hours, your only job is to feel what you feel and let the shock settle, because decisions that are made in the first 72 hours after a disruption are almost always wrong. They are panicked, dressed up as strategy. The urgency you feel to act is not from God. It is from fear, and fear is a terrible strategist.
Trust me when I tell you, wait, [00:24:00] 72 hours, you can handle it. Yes, there is a reason, your strategy for. Feel stalled, and I bet you didn't realize it's spiritual. Discover your divine wiring, which informs how you lead, where you sabotage, and how to shift in order to scale. With the move to millions Ascension archetype quiz, in less than three minutes, you'll learn what's really blocking your money, your momentum, and your mission.
Take the quiz today at Move to Millions quiz.com. Step number two, investigate before you interpret. After the 72 hours have passed, your next job is to not decide what the disruption meant. Your job is to investigate what actually happened. Ask questions, gather data, talk to people, find out the actual shape of what occurred, separate from the story your mind built around it.
Because in that first 72 hours, your mind was writing a narrative. It was making everything mean [00:25:00] something. It was deciding this meant that you failed, that you miss God, or that you're off track, or that you are not blessed, or whatever other spiral whispered to you During that time, I want you to separate the event from the interpretation.
The thing that happened is data. The story that you told yourself about it is something else entirely. And step number three, I want you to ask three questions. What was I about to build on this that I cannot see yet? What was I going to delay if this had worked, and who am I being asked to become in the absence?
Those questions probably sound familiar, right? I want you to sit with those three questions for a week. Journal around them, pray on them, talk about them with someone who will not rush you through them. You'll have clarity by the end of that week if you do this. Not complete clarity, not a 10 year plan, but you'll have enough clarity to take the next best step.
And if you do this protocol and clarity does not come, then [00:26:00] that is an opportunity for you to slow down and put yourself in a position to just get back to safety. Because the gap between release and renewal, which I talked about in episode number one, is also the gap between disruption and direction.
When you are experiencing that gap, it is going to require that you learn how to hold the gap without flinching, without rushing to judgment or rushing to action. And that is, I want you to understand it's a big part of the reason why created my program called Sanctuary. Sanctuary is about feeling safe inside of every level of success, even in a pruning season.
Now, before we close, I want you to sit with this. The cut that came without warning is not what you think it is. It is not proof that you miss God. It is not punishment for an oversight and it's not an attack on your assignment, what it is, a door closing behind you so that another [00:27:00] door in front of you can open.
The question is not whether you will survive this season because you will. The question is whether you'll cooperate with what it is trying to build in you. There are three things I want you to do this week. Number one, take the Ascension archetype quiz at move to millions quiz.com. If you have already taken it, then I want you to read your report again with this episode in mind.
And if you have not already upgraded to the private podcast and Divine Design report, do it. The archetype insight hits different when you are actively in a pruning season. Number two, if something has recently been taken from you, I want you to run the three questions not in your head. I want you to write them out.
Sit with them. And number three, I want you to share this episode with the CEO in your life who you know is currently in a spiral, the one that is stuck in a, did I miss God loop? I want you to hand them the mirror, and I want you to say this with me. Not every disruption is an attack. Some [00:28:00] disruptions are divine redirection.
I did not miss God. God is moving me. Now next week in this series pruning season, we are going to talk about the hardest pruning decision a CEO ever has to make. Not the thing that is failing, not the thing that God took, but the thing that is still working. The offer that is still producing the client, that still pays well the program that still converts the partnership that still looks successful from the outside.
Pruning is not about cutting dead branches. Remember, it's about cutting the fruit bearing ones to make room for more fruit. And at some point in your pruning season, you are going to have to look at something that is producing and decide whether it belongs in your future. I had to do it, so that means you're gonna have to do it too.
That is what we are gonna get into in the next episode, and I don't want you to miss it. Until next time, remember, millions are your birthright, and to access them, you need only move. I'll see [00:29:00] you next time. Take care. Thank you for tuning in to the Move to Millions podcast. Every legacy led CEO has a divine design and yours is waiting to be revealed.
Take the ascension archetype quiz at move to Millions quiz.com to uncover how you're wired for wealth and what needs to shift to make your next move with grace and ease instead of hustle and grind. And if this episode bless you, do me a favor, subscribe, rate, and leave us a review. And always remember, millions are your birthright. And to access them, you need only MOVE.
