Ep 423 – The Control Tax: Why Doing The Most is Costing You Money
This is the 3rd part of the Hidden Taxes That Are Costing Your Millions Series
This episode is powered by The Ascension Archetype Quiz.
" You are not called to do it all by yourself. You were called to lead all of it, and those are not the same job."— Dr. Darnyelle Jervey Harmon
Being the most capable person in your company isn't the flex you think it is. It might actually be evidence that you haven't built a company yet. If every important decision needs your approval, every deliverable needs your final touch, and everything starts wobbling the minute you step away, you haven't made yourself indispensable. You've made yourself the bottleneck. And the uncomfortable part is that what you've been calling excellence, high standards and responsible leadership may actually be control wearing a very expensive business suit. Because the business you insist on holding together with your own two hands can never grow beyond the reach of those hands.
If you are the smartest, most capable person in your business and secretly proud that nobody can do it quite like you, this episode may make you uncomfortable. Because the very competence that helped you build your company can become the control that keeps it dependent on you. In part three of the Hidden Taxes Series, we're auditing The Control Tax, the invisible cost of micromanaging your team, becoming the decision bottleneck, doing work below your CEO pay grade, refusing to delegate, and building an owner-dependent business that cannot breathe without you. If you're exhausted from carrying everything while wondering why your team won't take more ownership, we're going to confront an uncomfortable possibility: maybe they aren't the problem. Maybe you've trained them to need you. And until you move from being the best doer in your company to becoming the architect of it, the freedom, revenue, capacity and legacy you're building toward will remain limited by the one resource that can never scale: you..
Here’s the truth: you might not have a team problem. You may have trained capable people to stop thinking because you've taught them that nothing is finished until you touch it.
You’ll walk away with a new way to distinguish excellence from control and delegation from simply dispatching tasks. You'll identify the six signs that you're paying the Control Tax, understand the two grips keeping you stuck in self-reliance, and learn three practical shifts from control freak to collaborative CEO: design instead of do, delegate outcomes instead of tasks, and allow imperfection long enough for your team to become excellent. Most importantly, you'll understand why sustainable seven-figure leadership requires you to stop being the most capable worker in your company and become the architect of a company that can work without you
Grab your Move to Millions Podcast Notebook, a pen and your favorite beverage and listen in to discover:
✔ How to recognize when high standards and "protecting the brand" have crossed the line into micromanagement
✔ How to delegate outcomes instead of tasks
✔ How to shift from doing the most to delegating for results
✔And so much more
This episode is a call to stop mistaking control for leadership. If everything has to run through you, you haven't protected your company, you've capped it.
This is your invitation to loosen your grip on the business you say you want to grow. Your next level doesn't need more of your hands on everything. It needs you to build something capable of standing without them.

[00:00:00] You will not say the words, "I cannot do this alone," because needing someone feels like weakness. So you carry what should be shared, and you call it being strong. But strength that refuses support is not actually strength. If you do not delegate, you are literally wasting money

Listen, that's how we grow this message and get it into the ears of more seven-figure CEOs and seven-figure CEOs in the making. Your words matter. Your support matters. So please take a moment to go ahead, rate, review, and then come right back because this episode is about to shift everything You are the smartest, most capable person in your business.
You can do [00:02:00] every job better than anyone that you have ever hired. The problem is that you're actually proud of that, and it is also the reason why your business is not growing at the rate that you desire it to. Because here's what I need you to know and understand. A company can only ever grow as big as the founder is willing to take their hands off of the business.
Trust me when I tell you, if you have to control it, then it will limit your ability to scale. And I need you to understand that the reason you cannot scale has nothing to do with your strategy. It has everything to do with your grip. If you have to be in control, then you cannot allow the abundance to flow in and regulate the situation.
'Cause the truth of the matter is that nothing in your business can ever grow bigger than your willingness to let go of it. Welcome back to the series where we are auditing the eight hidden taxes that never show up on a financial statement, but are quietly draining your capacity for wealth, leadership, impact, and peace.
[00:03:00] I am so excited about this series. So far, we have covered two of the eight taxes, the survival tax, why success still does not feel safe, and the approval tax. You know all about the hidden cost of needing to be validated outside of yourself. Now, if you missed either of those episodes, my personal recommendation is that you go back, because this series is building each tax on the last.
In this episode, we are moving on to the third tax, and this is the one that is hiding in plain sight, because it looks exactly like leadership. That's right, we are talking about the control tax, why holding everything together is actually costing you millions of dollars. Here's what I mean. Control, it feels responsible.
It feels like you're operating in excellence. It feels like it is the only way for you to protect your brand and the standard that you have worked so [00:04:00] very hard to make available out in the world. But here's what I need you to know and understand. Until you realize that the same grip that protects your standard is the same grip that prevents your growth.
Now, you cannot hold it all together and expect to scale at the same exact time. At some point, those two things are gonna begin to clash and fight one another. And truth be told, if there is a battle to be won, your grip is always going to win the battle, because the grip feels safer Now, as we go through this episode, there's a question I want you to allow to ruminate and anchor into your spirit, and that question is simply this: what are you trying to prevent by trying to control everything?
Ooh, take a deep breath in. You are watching or listening to the Move to Millions podcast, and I am your host, Dr. Darnyelle, award-winning CEO of Incredible One Enterprises and the creator of several powerful business growth systems and [00:05:00] frameworks, including our coveted Move to Millions method that we base this powerful podcast on.

Over the last nearly 20 years, we have helped thousands of entrepreneurs get to six, multiple six, seven, and even eight figures.
This is part three in our latest series, The Hidden Taxes Keeping You From Millions. Now, if you are exhausted from being the person that everything depends on, this is the episode that you did not even know that you need. I wanna invite you to subscribe right now so that you never miss anything else that comes from this powerful podcast, because this is my love letter to business.
Now, I have to be honest with you. I cannot teach this one from a distance because I have lived it. I have lived it. You know the saying, "Game recognizes game"? Well, I graduated summa cum laude from the If You Want Something Done Right, Do It Yourself [00:06:00] School. I promise you, the only thing I ever heard my dad say more than, "If you want something done right, do it yourself," was, "You have to work hard for money."
I am not exaggerating. And for years, I was the most capable person in my company because I internalized that thing. I thought if I wanted something done right, I needed to do it myself. Now, I told my team that I was the best in my company, not through any of the words that I ever said. But you know, things are learned based on what we are taught and what we have caught.
And more often than not, my team was catching that I was the only one who could make decisions and do things to make this company grow. Now here's the problem with all of this. I had literally hired people to do jobs that I would do. I would rewrite the emails. I would correct the typos on the website. I would go in and edit the posts on social media because I saw [00:07:00] something wrong, instead of allowing the people that I was paying good money to to do the jobs that they were being paid for.
Now, I told myself that this was all about quality, but the truth is, it was all about control. Because as long as everything ran through me, then nothing could go wrong without my permission. When I think back on all of this now, y'all, I just have to shake my head, because I thought I was operating in abundance, but I was really operating in scarcity and lack, because that is what felt safe.
The thought that anyone that I hired would make a mistake that might cost me money was a risk in the early years that I was not willing to take. So I just wore, "I will do it myself" like it was a badge of honor. I mean, it's so much faster for you to do it yourself, right? That was the lie that I told myself.
But the truth is, all I was really doing was actually building a prison for myself and locking myself in there with my own two hands. [00:08:00] And if that was not enough, I would literally work myself into exhaustion rather than ask someone to help me. Someone I was paying, by the way. Because asking for help, as I was taught by my father, meant weakness.
So I wouldn't ask, because who wants to appear weak? So I would not delegate, I would not bring in the people who could probably have taken me farther faster, because needing them, in my mind, was a waste of money. So I carried it all, and I had the nerve to call it leadership. Now, I'm always gonna keep it real with you because I never want you to think that I got to where I got and I woke up like this.
No. No one, even Darnyelle Antoinette, goes to bed a blunder and wakes up a wonder. I have made all the mistakes and paid all the taxes. That is why I can actually lead you through this series. Now, here's the thing that really got me. I had a multi-million dollar company that could not breathe [00:09:00] without me being present in everything.
I was burnt out. I was frustrated. I had a six-figure payroll, but I was carrying the entire business on my back. My business was 100% dependent on the one resource that could not scale: me. Hey, I hate to interrupt the goodness that's happening right now in this episode, but I need you to do me a quick favor.
If this episode is blessing your life and business right now, will you take a few moments and rate and review the show? Your words help more millions-minded entrepreneurs find us and step into their next level. All right. Thank you so much. Let's get back into the conversation, 'cause we're just getting started.
Listen, y'all, I had built myself a beautiful, profitable, very exhausting prison and job, and I was holding the keys, refusing to use them. It was why I burnt myself out, and it was why I had to burn that version of my business down all [00:10:00] those years ago. And this is the same thing that I see today so often in CEOs that come into our ecosystem.
I have a client who immediately comes to mind, and I'm thinking about when we first started working together. Now, I was honored because she's brilliant, her business was real, her clients were happy, her revenue was solid, and she had not taken a vacation in at least five years. Not a real one. I mean, she technically went to this island or that, but every trip she had her work phone and her laptop.
Every retreat, and you know we meet with our clients every 90 days, which was supposed to be three days with me and the community working on her business, she would spend the majority of the time outside of the room putting out fires working in her business. Every decision, no matter how small, had to come back to her.
"Should we send this email? What do we do with this client? Can I approve this refund?" I mean, her team was capable, but you wouldn't know that because she had trained them, without meaning to, that they needed to [00:11:00] check with her for everything. She was the bottleneck. She was the fear behind the bottleneck, and that bottleneck was literally breaking her business, and it ultimately broke her.
Her business did experience a plateau because it hit the natural ceiling that a business hits when there's only one person controlling everything that happens inside of the business. And contrary to her own personal belief, she did not have a strategy problem. She had a control problem. And when I was able to finally pry her fingers off of her business one decision at a time, her business did not actually fall apart the way that she feared that it would.
It actually began to grow, because it finally could. It turns out that she had some very capable leaders on her team, and if she would just give them the opportunity to lead, they would've been able to do just that. Out of nowhere, she got sick and was hospitalized for a few months, and while she was away, her team was able to get everything up and running, and running without [00:12:00] full reliance on her Now, this was something that was really important that we do because she would've sworn that she had to be present for everything.
So if you think that being in control is necessary for scaling, listen to what Gallup found. They studied the talent profiles of 150 CEOs from the Inc. 5000, the fastest-growing companies inside of the United States, and they measured something they called the delegator talent, and this was defined as the willingness and ability to actually let go and hand things off to other people within the company.
And here's what they found. The CEOs with high delegator talent posted an average three-year growth rate of 1,751%. That was 112 percentage points higher than the CEOs who had to do all the things of themselves and would never let anything go. And those same delegating CEOs actually generated [00:13:00] 33% more revenue in their businesses, $8 million on average versus 4 to 6 million of the companies that would not let go.
Here's what I want you to get from this. A business that runs entirely through you is not an asset. It is a very expensive job, and you are the one employee who can never quit and who can never actually take a day off. So I want you to just think about that again, right? The leaders who released control did not lose quality.
They gained a third more revenue, and they grew at a wildly faster rate. Think about what could be possible for you if you allowed yourself to stop paying the control tax. Here's what I know. The grip that you think is protecting your business is statistically the thing that is capping it. Your control is not the reason for your success.
It is actually the reason that you are experiencing a ceiling. If you have been paying the control tax, trust [00:14:00] me, I get it. It's your baby, and no one can raise your baby like you. And while that might be true on the surface, I know firsthand that through training and development, people can be taught the skills to do the job so much better than you.
I know that I found that in my own company before my gap year, that I literally allow people to do their jobs, and the jobs were getting done. And I could take time away. I could be gone for an extended period of time without having to worry about whether my business was moving, shaking, revenue was coming in, and all the things.
Now, here's what I want you to know and understand. There are some signs that you might be paying the control tax. Now, I want you to notice as I list them for you which ones make you feel defensive, and I want you to pay attention to what is happening in your body as I share them with you. Number one, you micromanage.
You cannot let work leave the building without your fingertips having touched it. You will rewrite the emails. [00:15:00] You will redo the pitch deck. You adjust the thing that was already good enough, and you tell yourself that you're protecting the brand. But what you are really doing is teaching your team that their best is not good enough, no matter how hard they try, and no matter what they do, you can do it better, which is gonna impact morale and culture.
So eventually, you know what's gonna happen? Your team is gonna stop bringing you their best. They're gonna bring you subpar, mediocre work, and you're gonna spend all of your time cleaning it up, because that's what you do. And here's what I want you to understand. You're not raising the standard when you do that.
You actually become the standard, and this is not a good thing. Sign number two, you are the bottleneck, and your team does not take action without your say-so. Nothing moves without your yes. Decisions will tend to pile up on your desk, waiting for you as the founder, who is way too busy to get to them, while your whole company idles in the meantime, literally getting paid to do nothing.[00:16:00]
You are the reason that things are slow, and you are also the one who is frustrated that things are indeed slow. You have made yourself the single point of failure, and then you wonder why everything fails when you are unavailable. Sign number three, you are taking your time to complete $20 tasks. Now, in your business, there are $20 tasks, $200 tasks, $2,000 tasks, and $20,000 tasks.
You should not be doing the 20, 200, or $2,000 tasks. You should only be doing the $20,000 tasks. But because you're so busy checking your own email, managing your own calendar, and running your own errands, you do not have time to do the $20,000 tasks. Sign number four, you are not asking for help. This is the independence face of the control tax, and it is the one nobody calls out because it looks so much like you're being strong, you're being capable, you're [00:17:00] being the leader.
But the fact of the matter is, if you do not delegate, you are literally wasting money And you will not say the words, "I cannot do this alone," because needing someone feels like weakness, and you tell yourself you can't afford that either. So you carry what should be shared, and you call it being strong.
But strength that refuses support is not actually strength. It is fear, no matter how you slice it. If you've been doing all the right things but still feel like you're carrying more weight than you should, it's not your strategy, it's your pattern. There's a hidden way that you lead that's shaping your money, your success, and your peace.
And until you see it, you'll keep working harder than you have to. The Ascension Archetypes Quiz shows you in just three minutes what's been driving your business behind the scenes and what needs to shift so that you can finally experience the overflow you're desiring. [00:18:00] It's fast, it's free, and it will give you the language for why things feel harder than they should right now.
Go now to move2millionsquiz.com to find out which archetype is running your business today My best-selling book, Move to Millions: The Proven Framework to Become a Million-Dollar CEO with Grace and Ease Instead of Hustle and Grind, is now available on Audible. That's right, you can listen to nugget after nugget, strategy after strategy, and chapter after chapter designed to help you to position your business for seven figures with grace and ease instead of hustle and grind.
Go to Audible today to get your Audible copy of Move to Millions. Sign number five, you are exhausted. You are doing work that is far below your pay grade, and you are doing it at 11:00 at night because you had to do your own work during the day because you could not bring [00:19:00] yourself to trust the people that you have hired.
The CEO should only be doing the few things that only the CEO can do. Instead, you are too busy in the weeds doing the 40 million $20 and 200 and even $2,000 tasks, and you're doing them with your seven-figure strategy and brain, and you're calling it dedication. But here's what I want you to know and understand.
Exhaustion is not a badge of honor. It's a receipt, and it is a receipt that you are paying a control tax with your body and with your business. And sign number six, you are silently resentful. This is a quiet one, the resentment that builds when you are carrying it all and feels like no one else cares as much as you do.
Here's the thing: if you want it done right, you keep telling yourself you have to be the one who does it. So you've said it, and you probably believe it, and that means that your team heard you say it, and so they're lifting their hands in full surrender and [00:20:00] allowing you to do the work so that they can collect a paycheck.
Listen, resentment is not proof that you have to hold everything. It is proof of what holding everything is doing to you. If any of these landed, especially three or more, then I want you to hear me very, very clearly. You don't have a team problem. You don't have a time management problem. You, my friend, have a control problem, and you are paying way more control tax than you actually need to pay, and it is costing you millions.
The truth of the matter is that there is no productivity system that will fix a ceiling that is being held in place by your own two hands. Now, I wanna be honest with you about what this tax is actually costing you because I don't want you nodding along with what I'm saying and go right back to being in control of everything tomorrow.
So let's start with the money, right? We just talked about that when we looked at the study that Gallup did. A third more revenue and a vastly higher growth rate went to the founders who were willing to release [00:21:00] control and let go. Which means your grip is not free. Every year you refuse to build capacity around yourself and employ people to take things off your plate, you are leaving the gap in revenue on the table.
You are literally choosing control over a measurable fortune, and you are telling yourself that you are being strategic and intentional. No, you are not. You are being foolish. There's a ceiling that is mathematical in all of this as well, because a business that runs through one person can only ever be as big as the one person can personally touch inside of that business.
You are not the engine of your company. Listen, I know right now you might be the only one in your business, but at a certain point you become the lid, and no strategy, no funnel, or no marketing can lift a lid that the founder is actually sitting on. You have to start building a team. You cannot live the control tax, because you will keep hitting the same number, hiring and re-hiring, launching and relaunching, and [00:22:00] never understand why the marker is not moving.
The ceiling will not move because you, my friend, are the ceiling when you are paying the control tax. And I wanna be very clear. You don't have to go hire everyone. You need a lean, aligned team, and that will make a huge difference when you do. Now, if you don't have a copy of my book, go grab a copy, because in it I break down who you need on your team to get to seven figures in a way that's sustainable and profitable.
You're welcome. Grab that book. We'll put a link in the show notes for you. Now, control does not just cap your revenue, it actually quietly disqualifies you from the freedom that you quit your good job to experience. No, I mean seriously. You did not leave your good job, take the risk of becoming an entrepreneur, and build this thing to create a prison where you are an inmate.
But that is what an owner-dependent business actually is. You can't get sick. You can't unplug. You can't [00:23:00] experience grief or need to rest, because you have to be fully present in your business every single day, which means that your family and your friends and your livelihood and your self-care is suffering.
You quit your good job because you wanted freedom. You built a machine that requires your constant attention to survive. That is not freedom. That is not even ownership. That is the most expensive job you will ever work in your life. And let's be clear, you would've made more if you stayed at your other job.
There is a cost that is even more deep than the freedom that you want. I'm talking about your health and your legacy. Remember, your body keeps score. And it is carrying everything and sending the invoice to your health and wellness, to your blood pressure, to your anxiety, to your nervous system that is dysregulated.
And your legacy that you say that you want will not be built when you have to be the only one in the business every single day. I mean, legacy by definition means that it has to be able to outlive you, but a [00:24:00] business that is built entirely around your control cannot outlive a single one of your sick days, let alone the sum total of who you are.
Now, the very thing that you are gripping to protect your legacy is likely the thing that is guaranteeing that you will more than likely not ever have one. So hear me when I tell you, releasing control is not about working less, although you will actually work less. It is about whether you are building an asset or you are serving a sentence.
If you wanna release control, you really do have to understand the two ways that you are holding on, so let me take a few moments and show them to you. I created this framework that really ties this whole thing together, because control has two grips, and for most high-performing CEOs, they are holding on with both hands.
Now, the first grip is the work itself. Now, I cannot let it out of my hands, right? That's what you're telling yourself. This is the obvious one. This is where you micromanage, you redo the work, you're the bottleneck, the inability to let [00:25:00] anything go out without you having seen or touch it. You grip the work because if it leaves your hand, it might not be perfect, and if it's not perfect, then something sad or bad might happen, and you do not want that to happen because that makes you feel like all the work has been for naught, and you do not feel safe with that.
Now, the second grip is on the help. I cannot let anyone in. You tell yourself that you're being independent, and this one is sneakier, because it looks like strength instead of fear. You won't ask for help. You will not hire out or up. You will not lean in. You grip your own self-reliance because needing someone feels dangerous, like you are handing them the power to let you down.
Listen, again, game recognizes game Control grips the work. Independence refuses the help. Both are you deciding that it is safer if everything runs through you, and both are [00:26:00] lying to you. And both the taxes... And both taxes will bankrupt you faster than you can ever say move to millions. And this is the question, if you ask me, that really does crack this independence grip wide open.
What if carrying it all is not the strength? What if carrying it all is the problem? Because here's what I know. At seven figures, the job is not to be the most capable doer in the building. The job is to build a building that does not need you to be in it at all, and you cannot do that with both hands gripping at the same time all the time.
You have to become the architect instead of the laborer. Architects do not pour every ounce of the concrete themselves. They design something strong enough to stand without them on site. So let me give you the actual path that I highly recommend that you take, because I really don't want you to leave this episode feeling convicted, but not knowing what you should do next.
So [00:27:00] here are three steps that I believe will help you to shift from control freak, my words, not yours, but honk if you hear me, to collaborative CEO. Step number one, you wanna move from doing it to designing it. The control freak asks, "How do I get this done?" But the collaborative CEO asks, "How do I build something that gets this done without me being present?
How do I build the SOP? What are the questions I need to be able to anticipate in advance?" This is the entire shift in one question, because your job is no longer to be the best doer of the task. Your job is to document the standard, build the system, and train the person one time so that the result no longer requires your hands to be present.
Yes, it is gonna be slower the first time. Teaching always is. But you are not spending time, you are investing time, and the return is every future hour that you get back into perpetuity. You can do the task in 20 minutes or you can spend two hours making [00:28:00] sure you never have to do the task ever again.
Which are you gonna decide? I'll tell you that the control freak is choosing the 20 minutes every single time, and that is why they're still doing the thing three years later and they're no closer to seven figures. You hand someone a checklist of exactly what to do and precisely how to do it, and then you have the nerve to be shocked that they cannot think for themselves.
You did not delegate. You literally used a person as a pair of hands. Collaboration means you give them the outcome that you want and whatever the boundaries are that they have to stay inside, and then you trust them to take their own path to get it done You say, "Here is the result that I need. Here's what cannot happen.
Now, go figure out how to get it done." When you [00:30:00] delegate the task, you create followers who wait on you, but when you delegate the outcome, you create leaders who actually free up your time. And leaders are the only thing that will ever put you in a position to scale your business to seven figures and beyond.
And step number three, you wanna let it be imperfect on purpose. This is the one that will actually test you the most because the first time you let it go, someone is going to do it at 80% of how you would've done it, and everything in your body is going to scream. But guess what? It's okay. It still gets done.
Don't take it back, because 80% done by someone else repeated and refined becomes 100% of someone doing it without you having to be present. Hallelujah, let the heavens open, and let's all say amen. That is what we're going for. We want a team that will grow, not because you are present to control them, but they will grow because your [00:31:00] presence is your trust in them to get things done.
So you have to learn how to let things be imperfect long enough for them to become excellent, to allow them to analyze and optimize. Now, the grip is gonna want you to be perfect from the first moment, but legacy actually needs a capable team instead. You cannot have both, so you get to choose. Do you want perfect or do you want legacy?
Now, I want you to notice what all three steps have in common. None of them are about your team getting better. They are all about you becoming freer. The collaborative CEO is not someone who found more trustworthy people. The collaborative CEO is someone who finally let the people she had carry what they were always capable of carrying.
The control tax does not grip the same thing in every single person, right? You know where I'm going with this. It grips whatever your wiring is most afraid to lose. That's right. You know by now [00:32:00] I'm talking about the Ascension Archetype Quiz. If you've already taken the quiz, then this part is gonna feel like I'm killing you softly with my song.
If you haven't taken it yet, this is your invitation to stop what you're doing and go take the quiz. It's takes three minute. It's ... And it's completely free, and it's waiting for you at movetomillionsquiz.com. Now, when you take the quiz, you are gonna learn which of the five archetypes is actually yours, the performer, the producer, the path maker, the powerhouse, or the prophet.
They are all divinely ordained. There is no right or wrong archetype, and your wiring is the key to you actually unlocking your biggest breakthroughs yet. This is why I'm so committed to these archetypes and talking about them every single week on the show. I want you to understand how you are wired, and I want you to understand that you are not the most valuable asset in your business.
You are the most expensive bottleneck, and until you decide to become the architect instead of the doer, that is gonna [00:33:00] be a problem. All right. Let's break this thing down. If you are a performer, hey, performer, you grip the narrative. You control how you are seen, the brand, the message, the image, because if someone else represents you and they get it even slightly wrong, it feels like an existential threat to your very relevance.
So, you become the only voice, the only face, the only one allowed to speak for the company. Your release is letting other people carry your message and trusting that the movement is bigger than your microphone. If you are a producer, hey, producer, you grip the process. The systems are yours. The workflow is yours, and it has to be done your way or it is wrong.
You are the most likely of all of them to micromanage because efficiency is your love language, and watching someone else do it slower is way more painful to you. So, your release is letting your team own the how and caring more about the result than [00:34:00] how they get there. If you are the path maker, hey, path maker, you grip the vision.
You will delegate tasks all day long and twice on Sunday, but you will not let anyone else touch the direction because the vision feels like the one thing that is sacredly yours. So, you actually become the bottleneck on every single strategic decision, and your team is literally waiting on a visionary who is stretched way too thin to make a decision.
Your release is trusting the other people on your team to steward the vision with you, not just execute beneath the vision that you've set. If you are a powerhouse, hey, powerhouse, you grip the load. Yours is the most obvious version of this task because you are a control freak. Sorry, not sorry. You have to control everything because that means pure self-reliance.
You carry it all. You refuse the help. You are the one who never breaks. "I will just do it myself" is your [00:35:00] anthem. The task is enormous because a business built on one person's back has a hard limit, and that limit is your stamina. Your release is the hardest and the most powerful. It is letting yourself be helped.
Ooh, powerhouses, take a deep breath in. If you are a Prophet, hey, Prophet, you grip the discernment. Nothing can move until you have prayed on it, felt it, vetted it, and confirmed that it is right. Sometimes that is wisdom, and sometimes that is a spiritual-sounding bottleneck. Everything routes through your knowing, and your knowing cannot keep up with your company.
Your release is trusting that you actually have already imparted what you need to share in the form of your discernment to your team, and letting them move in it without you is a blessing every single time. [00:36:00] Now, each archetype, as you heard, is gripping something different, but the cost is absolutely identical.
You become the lid, and a closed lid prevents all growth from ever getting into your company. And the question is the same for all of you: What are you trying to prevent by trying to control everything? Remember that question from the top of the episode? So you might be asking yourself, how do you actually loosen the grip?
I'll tell you. It's not by white-knuckling your way into letting go. That is just control that is aimed at your control. You loosen it by building the one thing that makes releasing feel safe: capacity. Internal capacity to trust and an external capacity around you strong enough to hold what you handed.
Because the real reason that you will not let go is not that your team is not ready, it is that deep down inside, you do not feel safe being held. And let me be clear, you cannot delegate your way out of a safety problem any more than you can [00:37:00] strategize your way out of a survival one This is a big part of the reason why I created Sanctuary Corps, because I'm so clear that until you build the internal capacity to be supported, to trust, and to let the weight be shared, your move to millions stays capped at whatever you can personally carry.
Mm. I do not love that for you. Sanctuary Corps is where legacy-led CEOs build the capacity to lead like an architect instead of a laborer. There is no program like it on the market. I have been watching our students shift in intangible ways that are changing tangible things inside of their business, and I have to be honest, it has been so great to watch.
I am going to go much deeper into the capacity piece in a few weeks when we get to the receiving tax, because releasing control and receiving support are the same muscle. But for now, just know [00:38:00] that Sanctuary is where you need to be if you're ready to build capacity, and you can get on the wait list today at incredibleoneenterprises.com/sanctuary.

It is a gift, and it is also part of why you have only gotten this far. The problem was never that you are capable. The problem is that you made your capacity the only load-bearing wall in the entire company building, and a [00:39:00] company with one wall cannot get any bigger without falling down.
You are not called to do it all by yourself. You were called to lead all of it, and those are not the same job. And the sooner that you stop being the best worker in your company and start being the architect of it, the sooner the ceiling that you have been fighting finally lifts. Now, there are three things that I want you to do as a result of listening to or watching this episode.
Number one, if you haven't done so already, make sure you go and take the Ascension Archetype Quiz at movetomillionsquiz.com. It will take you three minutes, it's completely free, and it'll help you to find out exactly what your wiring grips hardest, because you cannot release a grip that you have not named.
Second thing I want you to do is I want you to name the decision right now that only you are allowed to make. Just one decision. Then give it away this week. Hand it to someone on your team. Tell them that you trust them, and do not take it back, even if they do it differently than you would've done it.
This is the first [00:40:00] finger off the grip. And the third thing I want you to do this week is I want you to share this episode with the CEO in your life who cannot take a day off without the whole business wobbling. You know the one. The one who is brilliant and exhausted at the same time. You know, the one who's convinced that she is the only one who can do whatever the things are that need to be done.
She needs to hear this, okay? All right. Now, as we close, I want you to put your dominant hand on your heart and your other hand on your belly and say this with me I am capable of releasing my grip, and I trust what I have built and who supports me in the process. I lead by multiplying myself instead of doing it all by myself.
This season is about freedom instead of control, and I am ready, I am worthy, and I am capable. Take a deep breath in. Ha. Now, in our next episode, we move to the fourth hidden tax. This is the big one. This [00:41:00] is the one that you have been most rewarded for, the one that you are most proud of, and the one that you are probably even a little bit addicted to.
I'm talking about the hustle tax. When achievement becomes an addiction, we are going to talk about why working harder stopped being the answer a long time ago, why the grind you wear like a crown is quietly the most expensive habit that you have, and the question almost no high performer can answer without flinching: Who are you when you are not hustling?
Trust me when I tell you, you do not wanna miss it. So make sure that you subscribe so that you don't miss a moment of everything that we have here for you on the show. Until next time, remember, millions are your birthright, and to access them, you need only move. I'll see you next time. Take care. Thank you for tuning in to the Move to Millions podcast.
