Ep 408: New Level, New Devil: The Hidden Truth About Expansion No One Talks About
This episode is powered by The Ascension Archetype Quiz.
If you’ve ever reached a new level in your business and quietly questioned why this doesn’t feel the way you thought it would?, this episode will give you the language for what is actually happening. Entrepreneurs joke about the phrase “new level, new devil,” but very few people explain why growth can suddenly feel harder just when things start working. If you have ever crossed a revenue threshold, made a major move in your business, or stepped into a new level of visibility and felt more on edge instead of more at ease, this episode is the answer you didn't know you were looking for. In this conversation, Dr. Darnyelle breaks down the internal dynamics of expansion, why leadership responsibility changes your nervous system response to success, and how scaling your business often reveals a capacity gap rather than a strategy problem. If you’re building toward seven figures and wondering why each level seems to bring a new set of internal challenges, this episode will help you understand exactly what your body and leadership identity are navigating.
Here’s the truth: The resistance that shows up at the next level is rarely a strategy problem. It is a capacity problem. As visibility increases, responsibility grows, and consequences carry more weight, your nervous system begins scanning for safety. That tension is not a sign that you’re failing. It’s a sign that your leadership capacity is being stretched.
You’ll walk away with language for the tension you couldn’t name, as well as a new framework for interpreting the resistance that shows up during growth. Instead of assuming you need another strategy, you’ll begin to recognize the role your internal capacity plays in decision-making, leadership presence, and sustainable scaling. This episode will help you understand why growth sometimes feels destabilizing and what it actually means for your next level.

✔ How to recognize when “new level, new devil” is actually a capacity gap
✔ How to interpret nervous system resistance that appears during business growth
✔ How to approach expansion without abandoning yourself in the process
✔And so much more
This episode is a call to stop assuming that resistance at a new level means you are doing something wrong. Many entrepreneurs interpret the tension that appears during growth as fear, imposter syndrome, burnout, or lack of motivation. But in reality, those experiences are often signals that your internal capacity is being stretched by the level you have stepped into. Instead of pushing harder or abandoning what’s working, this episode reframes expansion as a process that requires integration.
This is your invitation to lean into the moments in your business where things begin to feel heavier or more consequential. If decisions suddenly feel more permanent, if responsibility feels larger than expected, or if you find yourself questioning whether you are built for the next level, this conversation will help you see those experiences through a completely different lens.
- “Every new level doesn’t just require more skill. It requires more capacity.”
- “Your nervous system’s job is not to make you successful. Its job is to keep you safe. And when the stakes increase, it scans not for opportunity but for danger”

- “95% of your success is internal and only 5% is external. That means most of your success is not actually strategic — it's somatic”
- “The devil isn’t resistance. It’s untrained capacity asking to be integrated.”
- What level of responsibility has my business grown into that my body has not yet practiced holding?
- Where in my leadership am I interpreting tension as failure instead of expansion?
- What decisions feel heavier now than they did at my previous level?
- How does my nervous system respond when the stakes increase?

This is actually the perfect time to grab a copy. It will help you to acclimate yourself to the work that I'm called to [00:03:00] do and the conversations we are having here on the show Now. All season long, we are having a different conversation. This is a conversation you are likely not having anywhere else.
Season seven is all about what happens when success is no longer the problem. Yep, I said it. Your success has never been in question, and it is time that you start acting like it, not just because what you say lies in the power of your mouth, but because that's the only way to experience the kind of success that you have been praying.
For and journaling about without losing yourself in the process. Now this season, we are getting to the heart of what's really keeping you from seven figures, and no, it is not what you think now, especially in this market, we're getting to seven figures can feel harder than ever, even when you're doing so many things right?
It's so easy to question why [00:04:00] you haven't made the move. In today's episode, we're talking about one of the most misunderstood experiences of growth. You know that moment when you reach a new level and instead of feeling relief, you meet resistance, holla. If you hear me and you know what I'm talking about.
Now there's a phrase people like to throw around in entrepreneurship, you've probably heard it. New level, new devil. Now, most people say it casually like it's a joke or witty repartee, like it's just part of the journey. And if we're being honest, when that so-called new devil shows up, you don't feel like laughing.
You actually feel like crying because now you're confused and self-doubt. It really starts to creep in. I mean, in your mind, you did everything right. You set the goal, you did the work, you showed up, you showed out, you followed through, and what's waiting for you on the other side looks nothing like you [00:05:00] thought it would.
When you got there, you expected there to be relief. You expected things to feel lighter, but instead everything feels heavier. There's more at stake. Every decision carries more weight. The margin for error feels smaller, and you start wondering why this level feels harder, not easier. That's usually when the questions begin, you know, what did I miss?
Did I do something wrong? Do I need a new strategy? Is this a sign that I should pivot or push harder? But here's what no one explains. Every new level doesn't just require more skill. It requires more capacity and capacity. Guess what? It's lived in the body. When you step into a new level of visibility, of responsibility or consequence, your nervous system goes to work because its job is not to make you successful.
No, its job is to keep you safe. [00:06:00] So when the stakes increase, when the decisions feel more permanent. And when more people are watching you, relying on you and are affected by your choices, your nervous system really starts scanning not for opportunity, for danger. And if your system hasn't been trained to hold the next level yet, it does not relax into expansion.
It actually tightens and braces. Not because you've done something wrong or something is wrong with you, but because protection is the only language that your body knows. This is where people get it twisted. They think the tension means that they're failing. They think the discomfort means that they made a mistake.
They think the pressure means that success came with a penalty, but what's actually happening is much quieter than that. Your nervous system is being asked to hold more than it has ever held before. Now, there's real data on this. [00:07:00] Research from the American Psychological Association shows that stress doesn't go down when responsibility goes up, even when money and status improve.
So for leaders, it often increases, and no one ever taught you how to train and calibrate for that. That's why it feels different, not because you're off track, but because the way that you've been holding yourself is no longer sufficient. For what you have actually built. So let me say this plainly, 95% of your success is internal and only 5% is external.
That means that most of your success is not actually strategic. It's somatic. Your body plays a much bigger role in how you lead, how you decide and scale than most people have ever been taught to acknowledge and when no one teaches you this. You only do what it is that you know to do. You assume that the discomfort means something is wrong with you, but you didn't do anything wrong.
Your nervous system is [00:08:00] actually doing what it's designed to do, and that is to protect you. The tension that you're feeling is not a problem. It's information. It's pointing to the capacity gap, not a skill gap. Not a strategy gap, a capacity gap. Now the devil isn't resistance, it's untrained capacity, asking to be integrated.
Now if you're listening to this and you're thinking, okay, that sounds good in theory, but how do I know this is actually what I am dealing with? This is where I wanna slow this train down. Because when people don't have the language for what is happening to them internally, they begin to default to self blame.
They call it fear or imposter syndrome or burnout, or a motivation problem, but most of the time it's none of those things. It is indeed a capacity gap, and once you can name it, you can stop treating yourself like you are broken. So let me make this really, [00:09:00] really practical for you. Here are a few ways that you can tell that this is not regression.
It's actually expansion that is outpacing your integration. If you've been doing all the right things, but still feel like you're carrying more weight than you should, it's not your strategy, it's your pattern. There's a hidden way that you lead that's shaping your money, your success, and your peace. And until you see it, you'll keep working harder than you have to.
The Ascension archetypes quiz shows you in just three minutes what's been driving your business behind the scenes and what needs to shift so that you can finally experience the overflow, your desiring. It's fast, it's free, and it will give you the language for why things feel harder than they should right now.
Go now to move to millions quiz.com to find out which archetype is running your business today. Hey, I hate to interrupt the goodness that's happening right now [00:10:00] in this episode, but I need you to do me a quick favor. If this episode is blessing your life and business right now, will you take a few moments and rate and review the show your words, help more millions minded entrepreneurs find us and step into their next level?
All right, thank you so much. Let's get back into the conversation 'cause we're just getting started. I'm gonna share three signs that you are in a capacity gap. Now, here's the first sign. Your results are growing, but your nervous system is not settling. Now, on paper, everything looks really good, revenue is steady, it's increasing.
Opportunities are expanding. People are responding. But internally. You feel on edge, there is tension always in your shoulders. You're not excited, you're not energized. You're just bracing. You're hypervigilant. Now, that's not in gratitude. That's your body saying, I haven't learned how to hold this yet.
Second sign, you're overthinking. Decisions that used to feel so [00:11:00] simple. You find yourself looping, second guessing, running scenarios in your head late at night, you're not going and having a good night's sleep. You are constantly tossing and turning, not because you don't know what to do, but because the consequences feel heavier.
Now, when decisions start feeling irreversible, the nervous system slows everything down in order to protect you. Now, this is not confusion, it's self-preservation. Now, the third sign. You feel more responsible, but less resourced. More people are depending on you. More outcomes are tracing back to you. More weight is sitting on your little shoulders, and instead of feeling more supported, as you experience this growth, you feel more and more alone.
Now, that is not a leadership flaw. That's what happens when external responsibility expands faster than internal support. Now, this is the part that I really want you to understand because this matters so much. Because when expansion [00:12:00] triggers discomfort, most high achievers immediately assume they are doing something wrong.
Now, they don't ever say it out loud, but they absolutely think it quietly. They say things like, why does this feel harder when things are actually working? Shouldn't I be more confident by now? I thought this level would feel different. And what makes this so destabilizing is that nothing is actually broken.
The strategy is sound. The numbers make sense. The momentum is real. So there's obviously nothing to fix, and that's when people turn the discomfort inward. They start questioning themselves, their instincts, their capacity. They wonder if they somehow have lost their edge. If maybe they weren't actually built for this level after all.
So let me be very, very clear with you. Feeling stretched does not mean you're off track. It does not mean that you made a mistake getting to the point where you are, and it does not mean that you are regressing. [00:13:00] It means that you've entered a level that requires a different internal posture, because growth doesn't always feel like momentum.
Sometimes it feels like discomfort and disorientation, not the kind where everything is falling apart, but the kind where what used to work internally doesn't automatically organize you anymore is actually a signal. Now I've been there, done that, and gotten the t-shirt. There were seasons on my own journey where everything on paper looked right.
I mean, revenue was solid, the brand was growing, opportunities were expanding. But internally I can remember thinking, why does this feel so hard now? At the time, I did not have the language. I just knew something was off. It wasn't panic, it wasn't fear. It was the subtle sense of being unsettled, like I was carrying more than I knew how to hold.
Now I know how to build a business. I know how to lead people, and I know how to show up under pressure. What I didn't yet know was how to remain [00:14:00] present, aligned and grounded as everything around me expanded. And that is an important distinction because success did not betray me. It didn't trick me and it didn't fail me.
It actually exposed a gap. I didn't even know was there not a character gap? Not a competence gap, but that old pesky capacity gap. Now I'm have a client that I'm thinking of right now that I worked with not that long ago. Brilliant, established doing everything right on paper. She had just crossed the million dollar mark.
Revenue jumped. I mean, her team expanded. Her visibility increased almost overnight, and from the outside it looked like momentum. But when she sat across from me. She said something that stopped me in my track. She said, I don't understand why I feel so on edge. This is what I prayed for. This is what I worked towards.
Why does it feel like I'm constantly on guard bracing now? She wasn't burnt out, she wasn't behind, and nothing was actually wrong. [00:15:00] What was happening was much quieter. Her nervous system was trying to catch up to a level of responsibility that it had never practiced holding before. Every decision as a result carried more consequence.
Every delay felt more expensive. Every mistake felt less reversible, and instead of feeling relief, her body stayed on alert. Her shoulders were tight, her breath was shallow. She had difficulty resting even on her days off. She literally told me, I thought once we hit this number, I'd finally relax. But the number came and the relief didn't, was surfaced instead was pressure or fear of making a mistake.
And that quiet tension between who she had been and what this level was now asking of her strategy was not the missing piece. Her capacity was. So let me ask you something. Have you ever experienced this? Or maybe you're in it right now. Things are working, you're growing, and instead of clarity, you find yourself wondering.
[00:16:00] Okay, what am I supposed to do with this? Not because you don't know how to grow, but because you can feel that the way you've been holding yourself is starting to take its toll, is creating strain. And that is where most people get it wrong. They assume that the answer is universal. They assume everyone experiences expansion the same exact way, and that everyone braces the same exact way that everyone protects themselves the same exact way, but.
We don't. The devil that shows up at a new level is following how you're wired, which is why I created the ascension archetype quiz. It's not a personality test, it's not a label, but it's a way for you to understand how you are divinely wired to lead, to scale, and protect yourself. As pressure increases.
It will even tell you how and when you're sabotaging your next level of success. When you take the quiz, and it only takes three minutes, by the way, you'll learn that you're one of five [00:17:00] archetypes. You'll be the performer, the producer, the path maker, the powerhouse, or the prophet. Now, there is no right or wrong archetype.
Whoever you is is perfect. You are chosen and wired by God on purpose, with purpose, for purpose. Now what matters is understanding how your wiring responds when the stakes begin to rise. So let me make this real for you based on our five archetypes, if you are a performer, expansion increases visibility.
So the pressure becomes, can I maintain how I'm perceived by others? You don't just lead, you manage optics, not because you are inauthentic, but because feeling fully seen feels riskier at higher levels. Now, for my producers, expansion increases dependence. More people begin to rely on you. More systems depend on your steadiness, so you carry more quietly, relentlessly, not because you don't trust others, but because collapse feels intolerable for my path makers, [00:18:00] expansion accelerates vision.
You can see what's coming long before infrastructure exists to support it, so your body feels ahead of your environment, not because you're scattered, but because you got there early. And for my powerhouses, expansion increases consequence. Every decision matters more. The margin of error feels smaller. So what do you do?
You grip tighter. Not because you crave control, but because letting go feels dangerous when so much more is at stake. And for my prophets, expansion amplifies truth and truth. It disrupts. So you hesitate. You filter, you hold parts of yourself back, not because you doubt your insights, but because being fully seen feels very costly.
Here's what I know. Understanding who you are is a game changer. Now, if you recognize yourself in any of those archetypes, I want you to hear me very, very [00:19:00] clearly. There is nothing wrong with you. I know I keep saying that, but I wanna make sure that it lands because this is not weakness, it's growth asking to be integrated.
This level isn't testing how hard you can push. It's asking how much you can hold. Without abandoning yourself in the process, see the difference. And when that happened, and when that hasn't happened, growth can feel uncomfortable and create excess tension. Now if you listen to each of these descriptions and you wondered, okay, so which one AM I?
I want you to go and take the Ascension archetype quiz. It's a short assessment. That really does help you understand how you are divinely wired for scaling, for leading, and for protecting yourself as the stakes rise, and you'll learn how your wiring is working for you and how it's working against you.
This is not about putting yourself in a box. It's about giving language to the patterns that you have been living through for years, but were never able to name [00:20:00] it. Only take three minutes. And you can take the quiz right now at move to millions quiz.com. I'll also put the link in the show notes for you now.

Nothing is wrong, nothing went off the rails, and nothing needs to be fixed tonight. You did not miss the moment. You did not misread the assignment.
You did not outgrow your capacity. You simply reached a level that is asking for a deeper relationship with yourself. So don't rush through any of this. Let it sit, let it settle. And as we continue this season, we're gonna keep naming what is actually going to take for you to grow without losing yourself in the process.
Here is what I know. Getting to seven figures solidly and sustainably without losing yourself in the process. It [00:22:00] is a journey. It is not a sprint. It is going to take time. We tell our clients that it can take anywhere. From one to three years to make the move to millions, but to sustain the move to millions is actually going to take longer because at every level there is more expansion that has to happen.
And if you are not prepared for it, sure you can get the money to seven figures. You can hustle and grind your way to seven figures. You could start today and be there by the end of this year. But here's what I want you to know and understand. It is only the sustainability of the millions that's actually gonna change your situation and circumstances.
Take it from me. There ain't nothing warm and fuzzy, sunshine and rainbows or exciting about having a business that makes seven figures top line and spending all seven figures bottom line, because your body is constantly bracing. Because your money set point cannot hold that amount of [00:23:00] money. So everything you take in and you allow out and you never actually build wealth or create financial legacy, listen, not on my watch, not because of this show, we exist to help you to build wealth that you can sustain over time so that you can finally shift the generational trajectory so that you can finally.
Leave your family members with more than recipes. Can I get a witness up in here? This is the game changer you've been asking for. 'cause I don't know about you, but I know for me, getting to seven figures, it eventually became about more than the number now, I'll be honest. At first it was absolutely about the number.
Absolutely unequivocally, I felt like if I got there, then all of a sudden I would be worthy. But what I learned on the journey and once I got there and didn't feel any more worthy, is that all I did was create more turmoil for myself because my nervous system was not prepared to hold the [00:24:00] millions that I brought in.
Unless you are a brand new to the show, you already know the very first time I crossed seven figures in 2014. $1.3 million in cold hard cash in just three days, and it was really a day and a half because it happened at my live event. We make the offer on day two. We close out the event on day three, so it was really in a day and a half, and it shocked my system.
I was not ready for everything that transpired in that period of time. So the money got there, but I wasn't there sustainably. Within two years from that, I was back under seven figures. Now, part of that was by design, because I decided to burn my business down. I talked about that in this episode. How sometimes you think the answer is to abandon what you've built.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. And so what I recognized is by taking the time and giving my body permission to catch up. 'cause here's what I knew. I knew that I was meant familiar. I was 12. The very first [00:25:00] time I realized I was meant for millions. A preacher in the pulpit pointed at me and called me out and told me that I was going to be worth millions one day.
Now, I didn't really know what that meant. I mean, I knew it was a lot of money, but I didn't really internalize it. So by the time I fast forward to 36 years old and I've got millions of dollars, listen to me. It was a whole problem that I wasn't prepared for. So feeling that at every level, there's a new devil, been there.
Done that got the T-shirt, I felt that thing. And when I gave myself permission to not just recognize the signs that I shared with you in this episode, but when I gave myself permission to allow my body the time and space to catch up, and for me, it took me about 18 to 24 months before we were back at seven figures, and then we've sustained it ever since.
And every year, not only does revenue grow, but my wealth. My [00:26:00] net worth is growing because I keep expanding my capacity and my body is no longer bothered by or feeling the need to protect me from the revenue that I'm earning and what it is that I knew was my birthright. At the age of 12, and here's what I want you to know and understand as we round out this episode.
The same can be true for you. God is no respecter of persons, and I promise you if he can do it for Darnyelle Antoinette. Born in the projects of Wilmington, Delaware. He can do it for you too. I'll see you in the next episode. Take care. Thank you for tuning in to the Move to Millions podcast. Every legacy LED CEO has a divine design and yours is waiting to be revealed.
