Ep 242 – The Cost of Disobedience

When I was a little girl, I could never understand why anyone would disobey rules unless they were flawed. The mere thought of disobedience was so foreign to me, something only ‘bad girls’ did. Disobedience in business could cost you financially, spiritually, and even emotionally. It’s why understanding and mastering operational obedience is crucial if you aspire to become a million-dollar CEO.

2. “Move is an acronym that stands for mastery, operational obedience, vision, and execution to and beyond the million-dollar mark. So it’s not just about money, it’s about impact. It’s about legacy.”

3. “It was never my intention to tell you the stories that I’m about to tell you. I actually can’t believe I’m about to say it out loud for the whole world… because being disobedient, it’s costly in so many ways.”

4. “Here’s what I know. I know that when you hearken to the spirit that is in you, when you understand that you were created in God’s image and likeness and you listen to the still, small voice in your spirit, you cannot go wrong.”

5. “And so, last year, as we were preparing for Move to Millions 2023, there was a lot of friction going on in my personal life and in the business at that particular point in time. And I’m going to be honest and admit to you that I allowed the energy of desperation to rest, rule, and abide in me.”

So it cost me a million dollars to learn a lesson that I was intent upon not repeating. Not just because we were coming up on another live event cycle, but just in general. Because being disobedient, it’s costly in so many ways. It’s not just the financial costs, it’s the spiritual disconnection costs. It’s the hit to your confidence calls. It’s the not being able to close sales all of a sudden costs when you know that you could sell your way out of a paper bag because, yeah, that happens too. You’re listening to the Move to Millions.

It is happening on Tuesday, June 11 at 07:00 p.m. eastern Standard Time. Secure your seat right now by going to darnielle.com after Dash party. I am excited to be back with you for a brand new live episode. Now, before I jump in, if you are new around here, first and foremost, welcome. I am so excited that you have joined us on the Move to Millions.

Darnyelle [00:01:55]:
This movement is a game changer for your whole life. See, a lot of people think that I’m just about money and I’m just about business. But you’ll come to learn that this Podcast is about so much more than your business and so much more than money. We are about the spiritual principles and mindsets that often keep us from the success that God has already earmarked and reserved for us to experience in our life. And around here, we are on a mission to normalize wealth, legacy and abundance through your business. See, you might be an entrepreneur or small business owner, or even a micro business owner depending upon the size of your business. But here’s what we know. We know that there’s a wealth transfer underway and we know that God desires more for you in your business.

Darnyelle [00:02:47]:
And that is why I have been appointed and anointed in this season to guide you through understanding what it is truly going to take to make the Move to Millions. Move is an acronym that stands for mastery, operational obedience, vision, and execution to and beyond the million dollar mark. So it’s not just about money, it’s about impact. It’s about legacy. We created this move in order to serve and support you, the whole CEO. There’s probably very few other places you can go where the pillars that govern the work are based on every area of your life. Earlier this year, we expanded upon the Move to Millions method. Now, if you have a copy of my book, Move to Millions, the proven framework to become a million dollar CEO with grace and ease.

Darnyelle [00:03:38]:
Instead of hustling grind, you experience the 1.0 version of the methodology we have here. We launched that episode earlier this season. I taught on it at Move to Millions live, which we just wrapped. The 2.0 version went from five pillars to seven. So now we have strategy, sales systems, support, success, mindset, spirituality, and self care. Because we recognize that we’ve got to work on the whole CEO in order for you to make these millions in a way that honors, serves, and supports you to truly experience grace and ease instead of hustling grind. So we invite you to go to movetomillions method.com to get started with the methodology, or go to movetomillions.com and just get you a copy of the book. And while you’re there, get a copy of the planner because you’re going to need them in order to really help you to maximize this journey.

Darnyelle [00:04:35]:
I’m really excited to talk to you about today’s episode. Today we are going to talk about the cost of disobedience. Okay, so I’ve got a disclosure right off the bat up front. It was never my intention to tell you the stories that I’m about to tell you. I actually can’t believe I’m about to say it out loud for the whole world. We are currently, this Podcast is streaming in more than 133 countries around the world. I’m honored and grateful for that. And I cannot believe that you guys are about to hear this story.

Darnyelle [00:05:08]:
It was never, do you hear me? Never my intention to tell you this story. I talked about it at Move to Millions lives. I kind of let the cat out of the bag. And as I’ve been debriefing and spending time with God, as you know, this is my year of anchored ascension in an effort to be obedient. We’re going to talk about the cost of disobedience today. And so in obedience, I am going to tell you a story that I never intended to tell anyone. It reminds me back of 2013 when I was at that event was called client magnet marketing secrets. It was the precursor to unleash your incredible factor live.

Darnyelle [00:05:45]:
The live event that we did for five years. And I remember, and some of you know this story. If you’re an OG listener, you know this story. We came back from lunch on day three, and one of the participants handed me a handwritten note, just her way of saying thank you, because I had literally been changing her life at the experience. And she put my favorite scripture, which is first corinthians 15 and 58. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding. For as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in the lord. And if you’ve ever held your own live event experience, then you already know it’s a lift.

Darnyelle [00:06:21]:
It’s heavy. It takes a moment to kind of get yourself together. And although I was excited and grateful to be on that stage in 2013, I was also a little imposter syndrome y, and I was a little ashamed. And when she handed me that note, everything changed for me because I realized that I am valuable, flaws and all. And I hope that you realize that, too. And so I stood up, tearful eyes speaking in between the gasps of my tears, and I confessed to the audience that I, Darnyelle Antoinette, have filed bankruptcy. And that was the shame. At that point in time, I was taken to my grave that no one was ever going to know.

Darnyelle [00:07:00]:
I’ve gotten past that, right? You’ve heard me on interview after interview. I talk about it all the time on this Podcast. Listen, it’s no big deal now, because the thing I know about shame, once you give voice to it, it’s not shame anymore. Right? So, anyway, back to the whole reason of this episode, the cost of disobedience. Last year, I was disobedient. And when I talk about being disobedient, you guys know I’m a God girl. I make no bones about that. I don’t apologize for the God that resides on the inside of me that I allow to govern my life experience.

Darnyelle [00:07:31]:
My God isn’t even just the God of the Bible. He’s bigger than that. There are no limits. He’s not boxed in in any way. And it is my extreme pleasure and desire to seek to please him in always, always. I created house of millions because I wanted to create a safe space and community to support entrepreneurs at every level. After writing my best selling book, Move to Millions, the proven framework to become a million dollar CEO with grace and ease instead of hustle and grind, it became increasingly clear that this solution was needed in the marketplace. I knew we needed to help the thousands of entrepreneurs who slid in my DM’s navigate getting to and beyond the million dollar mark in a way that served them financially and spiritually and wouldn’t require that they compromise or sacrifice on the journey.

Darnyelle [00:08:27]:
House of Millions is the answer. Through our Move to Millions continuum, we realize that there are seven levels on the Move to Millions. Mapping when you haven’t crossed the six figure mark yet. Momentum when you’re making $100,000 a year. Mastery when you’re making $100,000 a quarter. Millions when you’re making $100,000 a month. Majesty when you know you can make $100,000 in a week. Monumental when you know that you can make $100,000 in a day.

Darnyelle [00:08:56]:
And Maverick when you know how to make $100,000 any hour that you decide. So we decided that we wanted to create a safe space to collapse the amount of time it takes you to make $100,000. And finally, we’ve got the programs and support that you need. No matter which level you are currently on, when you get in the house, you’ll finally get the support you need to uplevel every area of your life, whether you desire membership, mentorship, a mastermind, or a collective experience to support your journey to building massive wealth. It’s in the house. Get in the house today at House of Millions. Register now to join us for the Move to Millions live after party it’s going down on Tuesday, June 11 at 07:00 p.m. eastern Standard Time.

Darnyelle [00:09:48]:
Secure your seat right now for [email protected]. after dash party. But I get it wrong sometimes, right? My churchgoers would say, sometimes we all fall short of the glory, right? I’ve had my own experiences of falling short of the glory, and last year was one of them. And I was reminded, as I’ve been reflecting and debriefing on the live event, because we have our after party coming up and I’m still trying to get my words together about what it was for the people who were there and weren’t there. And so as I’m journaling and I’m sitting and I’m processing, and even in preparation for this year, God reminded me to listen to his voice and to do what he said. Here’s what I know. I know that when you hearken to the spirit that is in you, when you understand that you were created in God’s image and likeness and you listen to the still, small voice in your spirit, you cannot go wrong. And yes, sometimes we think we know better.

Darnyelle [00:10:52]:
So last year, I thought I knew better than God. We were coming up to Move to Millions. If you’re an OG listener, you probably have caught the trend that a lot of things happen around live events for us. That is my chosen modality of serving the world. I love galvanizing and bringing people together. And a lot of my breakthroughs, a lot of my breakdowns happen around a live event experience. And so, last year, as we were preparing for Move to Millions 2023, there was a lot of friction going on in my personal life and in the business at that particular point in time. And I’m going to be honest and admit to you that I allowed the energy of desperation to rest, rule, and abide in me.

Darnyelle [00:11:35]:
And so it’s no secret that when we host a live event, we open up enrollment into our program. So we are inviting people to come and experience transformation through our business advisory programs every time we do a live event. And so last year was no different. And so, as I looked at the data, because we collect data in preparation to serve our attendees, and I’m looking at the people who are registered. By and large, last year, we had 180 people registered. And by and large, those 180 people were not the client that God was telling me he wanted me to work with. They were a client that I had worked with in the past, and they were coming to the live event. And so, in lack in fear, because those of us who have bought into leaving money on the table, right, I did a live.

Darnyelle [00:12:26]:
I think it was a live on. The whole concept of leaving money on the table. Let me sidebar for a second and go here for you. I looked it up in the dictionary, and leaving money on the table means that you take an undesirable deal. It’s like you’re settling, and you already know God will let you live on whatever level you settle for. And so last year, I was hell bent on not leaving any money on the table. We had all of these people that were coming into the room, people that God had already told me on multiple occasions are no longer the focus of my work, by the way. But I had all of these people in the room, and I didn’t want to leave money on the table.

Darnyelle [00:12:58]:
So I created a program, an offer for those people, and I sold it, and 43 people signed up for it, and it generated just about a million dollars, and one fell swoop. Because this is the thing about disobedience. If you get away with the act, you think you’ve won. But you don’t really win. Let me finish telling you the story. So we enrolled 43 people on the program, generated over $900,000 for almost a million dollars. By 90 days in, people were already starting to default on the program by six months. You want to know how many people we still had in this program? That 43 people signed up? Which told myself in the beginning, right when I thought I got away with it, I was like, see, God, you didn’t know better.

Darnyelle [00:13:43]:
I knew better. Cause, look, 43 people have signed up for this. And I can imagine God just sitting there being like, okay, all right. Because, see, I believe God to be a gentleman. He’s not going to usurp his will. He’s not going to usurp what he wants you to be obedient to on you. He’s going to let you make your own way. And he let me make my own way, and he let me think I had won.

Darnyelle [00:14:04]:
But by six months in, that 43 people had become eight that were still actively engaged and enrolled in the program. Y’all, first of all, this was a hit to my ego. Second of all, it was a hit to my business’s bottom line. Didn’t you hear me say that we, this program was going to generate more than $900,000? We ended up losing a million dollars last year on this program that I created to not leave any money on the table, which is a measure of lack and was disobedient to what God was telling me to do. A million dollars lost. Now, you might have your chin on the floor right now because your business isn’t making a million dollars a year. Now, granted, our business is doing more than a million dollars, but I’m here to tell you that losing a million dollars, hook or crook, no matter how you slice it, it’s a hit. It’s a hit to the ego.

Darnyelle [00:14:49]:
It’s a hit to the bottom line. It’s a hit to the profitability of the company. It’s a problem and it’s the cost. In this case of disobedience, it’s what I had to experience because I thought I knew better. If you have millions on your mind, then you need to get in the house. House of Millions is our up leveled suite of business advisory programs for entrepreneurs and small business owners ready for community and connections to accelerate their cash flow. Darnyelle [00:15:31]:
eastern Standard Time. Secure your seat right now for [email protected]. after Dash party the Bible says his ways are not our ways. Can I know that? I don’t know everything in the Bible, and you’ve heard me say this before. I do not refer to the Bible as a religious textbook. I refer to the Bible as an instruction manual for living life in connection with my creator. I’m a spiritual being having a human experience, and I see the Bible and the principles in the Bible as an indication of how to live as a spiritual being having a human experience. I know a lot of people see it as a religious text, and that’s your right.

Darnyelle [00:16:16]:
And I’m not looking to sway or change you. I’m just sharing this context so that you can understand the cost of my disobedience. And so when it was all said and done, a million dollars at the end of the year to the business gone and many of the people out of integrity and just not honoring, I’m not going there in this episode because this is about my cost of disobedience, because I didn’t listen and because I acted in desperation, because I thought I knew better, because my ego, whose whole purpose is to lead you to believe that you are, you figured it out and that you don’t need support. Like, it’s why you don’t get into community, it’s why you don’t enroll in coaching program. It’s why you think you can just go to Google University and get all of the answers. And as a result of getting the answers, you can solve all of the problems. Here’s a clue. If you could do it by yourself, it would already be done.

Darnyelle [00:17:09]:
It’s hard to read the label when you’re inside the jar. But in my disobedience, in my acting in desperation, because desperation clouds your judgment, I thought I knew better. I thought I had figured something out. Many of you in disobedience are experiencing the result of the disobedience. Because here’s the thing. You can do what you want, and you can make the decision you want to make, but it comes with a cause. It’s called the law of cause and effect. It’s a universal law that governs our universe.

Darnyelle [00:17:38]:
For every cause, there is an effect. For every effect, there is a cause. And so the cost of my disobedience was a hit to the bottom line, a hit to my ego, a trying time in the business. If I’m being honest, I mean, I am. I’m being transparent. I’m putting on my business in the street. So it cost me a million dollars to learn a lesson that I was intent upon not repeating. Not just because we were coming up on another live event cycle, but just in general.

Darnyelle [00:18:06]:
Because being disobedient, it’s costly in so many ways. It’s not just the financial costs, right? It’s the spiritual disconnection costs. It’s the hit to your confidence calls. It’s the not being able to close sales all of a sudden costs when you know that you could sell your way out of a paper bag. Because, yeah, that happens too. And so I got the lesson. I had to forgive myself. I had to run myself and every person who enrolled through the forgiveness protocol.

Darnyelle [00:18:34]:
I had to be willing to give myself permission to make a different decision and decide to become obedient. This walk to the million dollar mark, the Move to Millions, is about operational obedience. When I’m on Podcasts and people ask me what is operational obedience, I think they’re a little confused because I am putting two words together that probably shouldn’t be together. I’m putting operations which every business owner knows, they need an operational infrastructure alongside of the word obedience, which is typically a spiritual word, right? Why would I need to be operationally obedient? I need to act in accordance to what I’m being told based on an understanding that I am the steward of the business, I’m the co CEO, but actually it’s gods because the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. And so when we act outside of what we have been told, we are literally being disobedient. And that disobedience shows up in every area of our life. It, it impacts our operational efficiency in life. Let’s fast forward to 2024 and the events preparation.

Darnyelle [00:19:41]:
So all year it’s been the year of anchored ascension and I’ve been going deeper and getting further into alignment and stepping boldly into my spiritual gift and the anointing on my life. And I’ve learned the power this year of detachment. Last year I was completely attached. Now I don’t set a revenue goal for my live event experiences. And even though last year I didn’t set a revenue goal, I was attached to the outcome because that’s the whole reason why I created an offer for people that were going to be in the room that I know that God told me I’m not called to salt to serve anymore. In that capacity, in that season, I wasn’t supposed to serve this group of people. And so this year, instead of being attached to any outcome I was completely detached. It was funny because leading up to the event is usually a stress filled time for me and my team knows it, so they’re like avoiding me like the plague so that they don’t have to worry about me snatching their head off.

Darnyelle [00:20:33]:
I haven’t snatched anyone’s head off this year. In fact, I was eerily calm. But it’s because I was operating under the auspices of anchored ascension, operational obedience and the law of detachment. The law of attachment says you can clearly state what it is that you want, but then you need to attach from how it happens, be committed to the vision, but unattached to how you get there, right? That’s what the law of detachment says. And so I was detached, so I walked in just as free the whole time. My energy, my alignment, it was so good, y’all. I didn’t even get a reiki session before the event. Normally my chakras get blocked because I’m up in arms over all the things, but this year, I didn’t even need to go get a reiki session.

Darnyelle [00:21:19]:
I was in alignment.

Darnyelle [00:21:20]:
I was clear. I was a clear vessel and conduit for how God want to use me because I was operationally obedient and can we talk for just a few minutes? I would sing, but my voice is still recovering from last week about the difference a year in obedience makes, because this year being completely detached. And while we are in open enrollment season. So now is the perfect time if you’d like to inquire about working with me and my team, because we are in open enrollment for all of our House of millions program. Our house of millions is the up level that came to incredible factor university this year. And while I don’t have final results to share, what I’m going to share with you right now is that we are over $800,000 in sales and 80% of that has been paid in full. That’s the reward of obedience. I know in my spirit that we are going to surpass the million dollars that we lost last year in my disobedience, because that’s the beauty of God.

Darnyelle [00:22:27]:
He gives us grace, and when we forgive ourselves so that we return back to seeing ourselves the way that he sees us, all disobedient bets are lost, are off. Actually, all disobedience bets are off. And we get to come back into alignment with obedience, to walk boldly into the promises that he made us, the yes and amen promises, the exceeding and abundant, above all we could ever ask of, think or imagine promises because of being obedient. So here’s what I want you to think about as I round out this episode for you. Where in your life are you being disobedient? Is it in your business? Perhaps it’s in your health and wellness, because, yeah, I was being disobedient there, too. You may have seen, if you’ve seen pictures of me, as of late, I have lost 35 pounds. I was not being a good steward over my vessel. And when I went to my 48 year old physical, and all of my numbers were up, including the scale at almost 200 pounds, I knew something needed to be done.

Darnyelle [00:23:32]:
It was time for me to put my big girl panties on, because I need another 48 years, y’all. I have too much work to do. There’s too much more of this planet to shake. And that was in jeopardy because of my disobedience. And we can call it whatever we want to call it. We can call it being lazy, because I would make eating decisions that were lazy. I wasn’t working out. I was spending a lot of time sitting down at my desk or reading a book or watching tv or going to the movies instead of moving my body.

Darnyelle [00:24:02]:
But seeing that high blood pressure reading, recognizing that I was on the verge of being pre diabetic, I was like, not so. Not so. It’s time to be obedient to what I know. We all know what we’re supposed to do. We know how we’re supposed to eat. We know how much sleep we’re supposed to get. We know all of that. Yet we don’t.

Darnyelle [00:24:25]:
It’s going to show up as a cost in your life experience for being disobedient. So where are you being disobedient? In your business, in your life, with your health, with your relationships, with your children, with your money? Where are you being disobedient, and what would happen if you decided to do what you know to do? I’ll tell you what will happen. You will shift the trajectory of every area of your life. You will walk boldly into the things that you have been denied, that have seemed so far away for so long. Everything will change if you would just be willing to do what you know to do. And so I’m hoping that the cost of my disobedience will help you to not be disobedient. And y’all, you know, it was an act of obedience to tell you this, because the only people who knew this, I mean, I did say it on the stage, but I don’t think everybody caught it, are my clients, because I’m always vulnerable and transparent with my clients. I don’t act like I have it all together because I think that that is an inaccurate way to mentor and advise people to take their lives and businesses to the next level.

Darnyelle [00:25:32]:
So there you have it. The cost of disobedience my question to you as we come into the second half of this year, right, we’re about to hit June. We got one more month before when the second half how will you turn the areas where you’ve been disobedient into opportunities to operationalize your obedience so that you can walk boldly into the reward that is desired for your life, for your business, for your health, for your wellness, for your career, for your finances, for your family in this season? I want you to ponder on that and I’ll see you guys next time. Take care.

Darnyelle [00:26:04]:
